Lesson 570: Balancing Emotional Management and Problem Solving

Course duration:70 minutes
Managing emotions and solving problems are both important, but the order in which they are addressed needs to be considered. You can tell the AI whether you need reassurance or an action plan more right now, stabilizing your inner state first, and then breaking down the issue into manageable steps. This process will make it easier for you to see the next step. Please prioritize safety and manageability. You don't have to bear all the changes alone. This is also the beginning of taking care of yourself again. Let Q&A be a gentle respite. If necessary, please contact offline professional support promptly.

Lesson 570: Balancing Emotional Management and Problem Solving

Today, I want to gently approach you with the theme of balancing emotional management and problem-solving. When faced with difficulties, some people immediately solve the problem, not allowing themselves to feel sad; others get trapped in their emotions, repeatedly thinking and feeling, yet unable to take action. Both are understandable. Solving the problem without addressing the emotions makes the body feel ignored; addressing emotions without confronting the problem only leads to a buildup of real-world pressures. A gentler approach is to learn to find a balance between the two. Sometimes you need to address the emotions first, then solve the problem; sometimes you can address them while moving forward. The key is to observe the intensity of your current emotions. If your emotions are already high—your body is trembling, you're breathing rapidly, your mind is blank, you want to attack or escape—then stabilize your emotions first: drink water, exhale, leave the scene, find support, and write down your feelings. Once the intensity decreases, then move on to problem-solving. If your emotions are within a manageable range, you can acknowledge your feelings while taking small steps. Today, please make a simple assessment. Rate your current emotions from one to ten. Above seven, soothe first; four to six, soothe while taking minimal action; below three, you can begin planning. Then write down three questions: What do I need most to be comforted right now? What is the most pressing issue to address in reality? Is there a small step that both addresses my emotions and moves things forward? For example, I'm feeling very upset, so I'll rest for ten minutes first; then I'll only reply with one necessary message. Remember, maturity isn't about having no emotions, nor is it just about efficiency. Truly stable responses mean that emotions have a place, and problems have a path. You can think of managing emotions as cooling down your body, and solving problems as paving the way for reality. Forcing a path without cooling down can easily lead to impulsiveness and hurt; cooling down without paving the way can cause things to continue piling up. The two are not enemies, but need to be coordinated in a specific order. Every time you assess the intensity of your emotions before choosing to comfort or act, you are building new coping skills. After reading aloud, please write a sentence: I am willing to first assess the intensity of my emotions before deciding whether to comfort first, act while comforting, or move on to problem-solving.

○ Music therapy guidance
When you're unsure whether to address your emotions or solve the problem first, listen to some clear, rhythmic music. First, rate the intensity of your emotions, then decide whether to soothe them, act while soothing them, or move on to problem-solving. Let the music help you place your feelings and reality in the right context.

○East-West Healing Tea Drinks
Licorice and ginger tea is suitable for balancing emotional processing and problem-solving. Ginger provides warmth, while licorice softens the flavor, making it suitable for when experiencing stomach tightness, chills, or emotional fatigue. Take a few sips first, then assess the intensity of your emotions: do you need to soothe them first, or can you take action while soothing them?
○ Healing Recipes
Honey Pumpkin is a good way to practice balancing emotional management and problem-solving. The soft, creamy pumpkin and the warm, sweet honey can soothe the body when emotions are running high. First, feel the sweetness and warmth, then rate the intensity of your emotions and decide whether to rest, soothe yourself while taking action, or tackle the real problem.

I. Recommended Dietary Therapy and Reasons
Recommended dishes:Honey Pumpkin (warm and sweet, soothing, balances emotions and actions)
Recommended reasons:This lesson explores the balance between emotional processing and problem-solving. Honey-roasted pumpkin, warm, sweet, and soft, is ideal for calming the body when emotions are running high. It allows you to first experience the sweetness and warmth, then decide whether to prioritize emotional well-being or proceed with the task at hand within manageable limits. Don't try to immediately change your mood while eating it; simply treat this food as a gentle pause, allowing your body to receive support first, making it easier for your mind to reconsider its choices.
2. Recipe and Method
Recipe (1–2 servings):
- 250g pumpkin
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- A little olive oil
- A little cinnamon, optional
- Very little salt
practice:
- Wash the main ingredients and prepare the parts that need to be cut into pieces, steamed, boiled until soft, or prepared in advance.
- After cutting the pumpkin into chunks, lightly coat it with honey and olive oil, then bake it at a low temperature until soft and tender.
- Use low heat, stir gently, or bake at a low temperature to allow the ingredients to meld together in a gentle rhythm.
- Keep the seasoning light, with less salt, sugar, and oil, and avoid using strong, pungent flavors that overpower the ingredients.
- Let it cool slightly after serving before eating. Take your first bite slowly to appreciate the temperature, aroma, and texture.
3. Small rituals for body and mind
When preparing honey-roasted pumpkin, you can first arrange the ingredients neatly, noting their color, shape, and texture, allowing your attention to gradually shift from emotional reactions, relational stimuli, event interpretations, or self-blame back to the present moment.
During the process, take three slow breaths. Don't rush to explain, respond to, or fix all the problems. Just let your body know: I am doing something small that can be accomplished.
When you take your first bite, first feel the temperature and texture, then gently tell yourself: I am taking care of myself, I am willing to take it slow, and I can choose to take the next step again.
If you're still feeling emotional, stop and don't force yourself to continue. What's truly important isn't eating a complete meal, but rather sending your body a safe, gentle signal that it's time to pause.
4. Dietary Therapy Experience Record
- Record the time of consumption; is it a regular meal or a meal to settle down after emotional fluctuations?
- Observe changes in stomach comfort, body temperature, and mood intensity within 30–60 minutes after consumption.
- Write a sentence: After this dietary therapy, what new action do I want to take care of myself?

Mandala Viewing Healing
When viewing a mandala, consider one side as emotional processing and the other as problem solving. The center represents the balance point. Slowly move your gaze between the two sides, reminding yourself: emotions need a place, and reality needs a path; I can assess the intensity before taking action.

○ Calligraphy and engraving therapy practice
When finding a balance between emotional processing and problem-solving, divide writing or engraving into two parts: the first part soothes the body, and the second part organizes the steps. No specific written content is needed; simply use the rhythm of the action to remind yourself: emotions have a place, and reality has a path.

○ Art Therapy Guidance
Please draw a balance scale, with one side representing emotional processing and the other representing problem-solving. Adjust the size of both sides according to your current state. If your emotions are too intense, add color to the soothing side; if your emotions are stable, add lines to the action side. The drawing will help you find balance.
